Fuquay-Varina, NC
Fuquay-Varina, NC

The Town of Fuquay-Varina is located at the edge of a thriving metropolitan areas and is experiencing significant development pressure. The Town is in the process of developing a Land Use Plan to better manage this growth. Key to this effort is providing guidance for both public and private sector in making decisions that will affect the pattern and character of future development, particularly where development is likely to be concentrated. Therefore, concepts for six subareas, or “focus areas,” that convey the community’s expectations for future development, infill, and redevelopment have been prepared. In addition to garnering public support for change and generating interest from the private sector to invest accordingly, these concepts depict critical land use policies and design principles and serve as a basis for proposed land development code modifications.
As a subconsultant to City Explained, Nealon’s role included land use analysis, creation of six future land use concepts from which perspective illustrations were prepared by Zanetta Illustration (five shown above), charrette participation, and assistance with land use recommendations and implementation strategies.
